ABOUT YARDEN BEN-DAVID

Yarden Ben-David was a Digital Media Production and Psychology double major at Florida State University. He recently graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors in December of 2019 and is in search of full-time employment. He is open to all available opportunities, and is willing to relocate for his future occupation.

His experience in the world of video began when Yarden was still a high school student at Cooper City High. Through his involvement in an award-winning television production program, CTV News, he found a passion for creating passionate stories that gave others the voice they needed to be heard. He scripted, filmed, and edited an abundance of news pieces that have been recognized on a district, state, and even national scale.

During his time at as a digital media production student at Florida State University, Yarden further explored his passion for storytelling by producing features about successful graduate students as a videographer and editor for FSU's Graduate School in the Fall of 2017. These videos were published by University Communications as a part of Florida State University News.

Yarden spent over two years of his time at Florida State participating as a live event volunteer for Seminole Productions, FSU's professional production group that produces over 80 live events per year for broadcast on the ESPN family of networks including the ACC Network Extra. Throughout his time volunteering in 5+ different sports, Ben-David became proficient in various live production positions, such as camera operating, camera shading, graphics (Ross Xpression), instant replay (Dreamcatcher), clips (Crossfire), and has technical directed on one occasion.

He dove into his interest in social media marketing by earning a position as a social media intern for FSU University Communications in the Spring of 2019. He contributed to photos and social media stickers that were posted on platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, and assisted in creating VLOG videos for FSU's Youtube page. He was also the social media chair for Phi Eta Sigma, the oldest and largest academic honor society among universities. He led two committees throughout the 2018-2019 school year and mentored them in graphic design (Canva), and overall social media management.

During the summer of 2018 Yarden participated in Onward – an internship program abroad in Israel – where he spent May through August interning at TLV.TV, a small start up, urban video magazine for English speakers in Tel Aviv. He worked thoroughly with his lead director to produce videos showcasing Israel through local culture, entertainment, and leisure videos. Combined, the six videos Yarden filmed and edited single-handedly reached over 150,000+ people throughout the world on Facebook.

In the Fall of 2019, Ben-David took three production classes. In his Advanced Feature Production course, Yarden served as an editor for Noles All-Access, a televised program that produces features on everything having to do with Florida State University Athletics. In his Documentary Video Production course, he was the producer on a team creating a documentary about the complexity in understanding what goes into African American hair care. He coordinated budgeting, scheduling, and location scouting. He also created call sheets for each shoot, as well as appearance releases for all involved in the video. Producing is one of Yarden's main career interests, so he is using his role as a learning opportunity for the near future. He also edited a lot of the documentary together. Lastly, in his 2D Computer Graphics and Animation course, he learned how to use applications such as Adobe Character Animator, and Adobe After Effects.

Ben-David worked at the Florida State University Career Center since January of 2019 as a marketing and communications intern. He attended all Career Center events and filmed them, then later edited a recap for each event to highlight on all social media platforms. He also worked with various Career Center departments to create specialized videos for promotions, presentations, etc. Lastly, Yarden used Adobe InDesign to create graphics for anyone in the Career Center who requests assistance.

After moving back home to south Florida, Ben-David transitioned to work at Sleep Group Solutions as a Digital Media Specialist. There he produced videos, photos, and graphic content for the company's website and social media platforms. He also assisted in planning an event called the SGS Mastermind, where doctors who have a focus in sleep apnea were flown out from all across the country to discuss and teach about dental sleep medicine.

Yarden now works for WPLG Local 10 News in Hallandale, Florida as a News Producer. In his role, Ben-David produces and times out half hour to hour-long shows at all times of the day ranging from 4:30am to 5:00am. He uses news sources provided by ABC and CNN to write scripts to be read by news anchors on air. He writes VO's, picks SOTs, and comes up with headlines, reporter tosses, and teases for upcoming stories as the station heads into commercial break. He creates full screen graphics, locator and info-banner supers, and assists in transferring stories to upcoming shows as well.
